A while ago, I was trying to impress 15 of my old uni girlfriends with kombucha whiskey sours at our annual trip to the summer house. As I was shaking cocktails in the kitchen, the girls came sneaking up to me, one after another, to announce their pregnancy like "can you make one without alcohol, wink wink?"...
So I did.
And there was more whiskey for me.
Luckily - both versions were really good.
One of the preggos yelled "THIS TASTE LIKE LIQUID LEMON PUDDING!" She was kind of right.
For this version I used our elderflower kombucha.
Makes 2 glasses of Kombucha Whiskey Sour
• Pour 50 cl Læsk Summer City kombucha in two glasses • Pour 120 cl bourbon whiskey, 40 cl freshly squeezed lemon juice, 2 cl simple syrup, 1 egg white and a dash of Angostura bitter into a shaker and give it a 10 seconds shake
• Top the shaker with ice and shake again • Pour through a strainer into the two glasses of kombucha • Garnish with lemon peel
For the non-alcoholic version, you just use a little more kombucha, lemon juice and syrup instead of bourbon.
