During December, at a typical Christmas gathering you will be served a smoking hot cup of mulled wine (or "gløgg" as we call it in Denmark) with a handful of raisins and sliced almonds tossed in. Two cups later and you leave the Tuesday night Christmas tree lighting event with your in-laws in a most silly mood.
If silly must be avoided, here is our version of a spiced non-alcoholic gløgg, made with our ginger kombucha of course...
Makes 4 small cups
2 bottles of Læsk No. 1
2 teaspoons of muscovado sugar
2 slices of ginger
1 red chili cut in half
Juice from 1/2 an orange
(or any other spices you prefer)
As an alternative, you can use the Urban Zen herbal tea from T Town which is a pure blend of cinnamon, cardamom, clove and liquorice root.
Pour kombucha into a small pot with sugar, ginger, chili and spices. Warm up until boiling, add the orange juice and let sit for 2 minutes. Strain the gløgg into two small glasses. Garnish for bonus points.
